Issued: 3:50 AM MST Jan. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 6 PM this evening to 5 am
MST Tuesday above 6000 feet...

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a Winter
Storm Warning... which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to 5 am
MST Tuesday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Timing... snow will spread from west to east Sunday afternoon and
evening... continuing through Tuesday morning.

* General event total snow accumulations... 6 to 12 inches for
areas above 6000 feet elevation. Higher amounts possible along
southwest facing slopes of the Mogollon Rim and the Kaibab
Plateau. Consult point specific forecast at:
weather.Gov/Flagstaff.

* Snowfall forecast from 6 PM MST this evening until 5 am MST
Tuesday...

     Doney Park 4 to 8 inches Flagstaff 9 to 13 inches
   Forest Lakes 10 to 16 inches Grand Canyon 9 to 13 inches
Heber-Overgaard 4 to 6 inches Jacob Lake 9 to 13 inches
      North Rim 16 to 22 inches Valle 4 to 6 inches
       Williams 6 to 10 inches

* winds... gusty winds are expected throughout the event... with the
strongest winds Monday afternoon and evening. Sustained winds
over 20 mph with gusts up to 45 will reduce visibilities to less
than one mile and create drifting snow.

* Other impacts... dangerous travel conditions are possible due
to snow packed and slick roads. Visibility could also be
severely reduced due to blowing and drifting snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring... due to significant amounts of snow and
strong winds producing limited visibilities.
