... Heat advisory remains in effect until 10 PM MDT this evening...

* locations include... Blanding, Moab, Castle Valley, Canyonlands
National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park, and Fry Canyon.

* Timing... afternoon temperatures will vary from 105 to near 110
degrees this afternoon. Little relief is expected overnight as
low temperatures drop to around 70.

* Impacts... dehydration, hyperthermia, and heat cramps may
impact those who do not take precautions from the excessive
heat. Also, prolonged exposure to heat can result in heat
exhaustion and/or heat stroke. Avoid strenuous outdoor
activities during the heat of the day.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time
outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting
clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency, call 9 1 1.

... Red flag warning remains in effect from noon today to 10 PM
MDT this evening for gusty winds, low humidity and dry fuels for
Colorado fire weather zones 203, 207, 290, 292 and Utah fire
weather zones 486, 487, 490 and 491...

* affected area... in Colorado, fire weather zone 203 lower
Colorado River, fire weather zone 207 southwest Colorado lower
forecast area, fire weather zone 290 Paradox Valley forecast
area and fire weather zone 292 North Fork forecast area. In
Utah, fire weather zone 486 eastern Uinta Basin, fire weather
zone 487 Book Cliffs, fire weather zone 490 Colorado River
Basin and fire weather zone 491 southeast Utah.

* Winds... west 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Relative humidity... 7 to 12 percent.

* Impacts... fire starts could lead to quickly spreading fires
which could be difficult to impossible to control.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

* Winds... west winds 15-25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.

* Relative humidity... 10-15 percent mountains, 6-8 percent
eastern valleys.

* Impacts... gusty winds and low humidities will combine to cause
critical fire weather conditions.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or are imminent. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures can
