Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 12:12 PM MDT Mar. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has extended the

* flood advisory for...
snowmelt in...
central Bannock County in southeastern Idaho...

* until 1215 PM MDT Saturday

* at 1206 PM MDT, emergency management reported minor flooding due
to snowmelt and runoff continues. Flooding has been reported in
Red Rock Pass and Downata Hot Springs, with over 6 inches of water
flowing across a 100 yard section of south downata Road off of
Highway 91. Marsh Creek is at full capacity from McCammon to
Inkom, with lowland and agricultural flooding ongoing just south
of Inkom. Rapid creek in Inkom is also at full capacity and has
reached the bottom of the bridge at Highway 15. Several homes are
threatened along this creek, with sandbagging in progress. With
precipitation in the forecast and snowmelt and runoff continuing,
flooding along creeks and streams and across fields and low lying
areas is expected to continue and may increase over the next
several days.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
McCammon, Inkom, Downey, Arimo and Virginia.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent. Continue to monitor for updates from the National Weather
Service.
