Special Statement
Issued: 2:26 AM MDT Apr. 27, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Warm and windy with increasing snowmelt and fire weather
concerns through the weekend...

A warm ridge of high pressure will result in warming temperatures
today through Sunday. Temperatures today will warm into the 70s
across the lower elevations, but with light wind. On Saturday, it
will be even warmer with highs in the 70s to lower 80s, but with
a warm south to southwest wind. Sunday will be warm and windy east
of The Divide, as a strong cold front slowly progresses eastward.

The rapid warmup starting today and continuing into the weekend
will likely result in increased snowmelt, with the potential for
some flooding near the smaller streams and creeks in and near the
foothills. Stay alert and report any rising water or flooding to
local law enforement or the National Weather Service in Riverton.

Besides the flooding potential, there will be an increased fire
weather concern starting today. Conditions will be quite dry with
miniumum relative humidities from around 10 percent into the
teens but with light wind. Saturday will be warmer yet with a
gusty south to southwest wind, increasing the fire weather threat
further. Sunday will be windy and warm, mainly east of The
Divide, with continued fire weather concerns. Please montior the
latest forecast and avoid burning over the weekend.
