Watches & Warnings

Winter Storm Watch
Issued: 4:15 AM MDT Apr. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from this evening through Tuesday
afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Billings has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from this evening through
Tuesday afternoon.

* Impacts... heavy, wet snow would make for very difficult
traveling conditions with poor visibility and roads becoming
snow packed. Downed tree branches and power outages are
possible. Young livestock may be at risk.

* Timing... rain will develop this evening and change to wet snow
overnight. The wet snow will continue through early Tuesday
afternoon.

* Snow accumulation... 3 to 6 inches of heavy, wet snow, with
heavier amounts possible on ridges and higher hills.

* Winds... northeast winds of 10 to 20 mph will make for poor
visibility in snowfall, along with lowering wind chill values.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch is issued when severe winter weather is
possible but not imminent. At this time there is a potential for
significant snow. Future driving and walking conditions may
become hazardous so it is important to monitor the latest
forecasts.
