Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 8:18 PM MST Feb. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning in effect until 11 am MST Friday...
... Blizzard Warning is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow, which is in effect until
11 am MST Friday. The Blizzard Warning has been cancelled.

* Timing... snow will continue through Friday morning. Gusty winds
will persist through early Friday morning before gradually
decreasing.

* Snow accumulations... additional snow accumulation of 1 to 3
inches can be expected tonight. Total accumulations of 10 to
15 inches over northern parts of Carbon County including Muddy
Gap. Otherwise, generally 6 to 12 inches across western Carbon
County.

* Winds/visibility... east-northeast winds at 15 to 20 mph with
gusts to 30 mph will continue through the evening, especially
north of I-80. These wind speeds should begin to diminish
overnight. Visibilities will be frequently reduced to one mile
or less mainly this evening especially north of I-80.

* Impacts... the combination of heavy snow and strong winds will
cause blowing and drifting snow with low visibilities. Travel
across northern Carbon County will be extremely dangerous or
impossible today! Avoid travel!

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
