Wind Chill Warning
Issued: 2:21 PM MST Dec. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Wind chill warning in effect from 9 PM this evening to 9 am
MST Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a wind chill
warning... which is in effect from 9 PM this evening to 9 am MST
Thursday. The wind chill watch is no longer in effect.

* Wind chill values... minus 30 or below by late Wednesday evening
through Thursday morning.

* Impacts... very low wind chill values will be dangerous to
those caught outdoors and unprepared. Frost bite or
hypothermia may develop quickly if precautions are not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

The wind chill is the temperature your body feels when the air
temperature is combined with the wind speed. Wind chills in the
minus 20 to 29 degree range can cause frost bite in 30 minutes or
less. The most susceptible parts of the body are the extremities
such as fingers... toes... ear lobes or the tip of the nose.

A wind chill warning means the combination of very cold air and
wind will create dangerously low wind chill values. This will
result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or death if
precautions are not taken.
