Heat Advisory
Issued: 5:49 AM MDT Jun. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory remains in effect until 10 PM MDT this evening...

* locations include... Grand Junction, Fruita, and Palisade.

* Timing... afternoon temperatures will vary from 100 to 105
degrees this afternoon. Little relief is expected overnight as
low temperatures drop to between 65 and 70 degrees.

* Impacts... dehydration, hyperthermia, and heat cramps may
impact those who do not take precautions from the excessive
heat. Also, prolonged exposure to heat can result in heat
exhaustion and/or heat stroke. Avoid strenuous outdoor
activities during the heat of the day.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. Take extra precautions, if you work or spend time
outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting
clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency, call 9 1 1.
