The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a

* flood advisory for...
Otero County in southeastern Colorado...
north central Las Animas County in southeastern Colorado...
southeastern Pueblo County in southeastern Colorado...

* until 530 am MDT

* at 324 am MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen across western Otero and north
central Las Animas County with the heaviest rain having fallen in
an area centered around 7 miles southwest of Rocky Ford. Another
area of heavy rain has fallen in the Delhi area since 230 am.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Rocky Ford, and Timpas.

This includes the following streams and drainages... Timpas creek,
Dry Creek and the arroyos and small streams that feed into these
creeks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

... The flood advisory remains in effect until 430 am MDT for
southeastern Otero... northwestern Baca... northeastern Las Animas and
southern bent counties...

At 241 am MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to three inches of rain have already fallen over the rural areas
of extreme southern Bent County and southeast Otero County.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Higbee and the open country south and east of Higbee.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
