... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon MDT
Friday...

* location... southern El Paso County including Colorado Springs.

* Cause and timing... a storm system will rapidly intensify on the
eastern Colorado plains tonight into Friday morning.

* Snow accumulation... 2 to 6 inches with the highest amounts
northern and western portions of Colorado Springs.

* Wind... north 20 to 40 gusting to 60 mph resulting in areas of
blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibilities.

* Impact... conditions will be hazardous due to periods of heavy,
blowing snow and poor visibilities. Slushy or snow covered
roads and poor visibilities will make travel difficult.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and
blowing snow. Use caution when traveling, especially in open
areas.

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon MDT Friday...

* location... Teller County, the Rampart Range and Pikes Peak
including Woodland Park, Divide and Cripple Creek.

* Cause and timing... a storm system will rapidly intensify on the
eastern Colorado plains tonight into Friday morning.

* Snow accumulation... 8 to 10 inches with locally higher amounts.

* Wind... north 20 to 30 gusting to 45 mph.

* Impact... conditions will be hazardous due to heavy, blowing
snow and poor visibilities. Snow covered roads and poor
visibilities will make travel difficult. Heavy snow may result
in power outages and tree damage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected. Significant amounts of snow are forecast
that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If
you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.






High Wind Warning
Issued: 10:45 PM MDT Mar. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning in effect until 5 PM MDT Friday...

* location... southern El Paso, Pueblo and Crowley counties,
including Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Ordway.

* Cause and timing... strong northerly winds will continue through
Friday.

* Wind... north 35 to 45 gusting in excess of 65 mph.

* Impact... these winds will pose a hazard to high profile
vehicles, especially on east to west oriented roadways. Winds
may also take down power lines and trees, knock out power, cause
property damage, and reduced visibilities due to blowing dust in
some areas.

* Potential fire weather impact... although humidity values will
be much higher on Friday, if power lines were to fall on any
dry grass, then the potential will exist for a fast moving
grass fire to occur.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
