Watches & Warnings

Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 8:48 PM MST Dec. 10, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 am MST
Sunday...

* timing... snow will increase again over the mountains towards
midnight and continue through Sunday morning. Snow will be
heavy at times especially overnight tonight.

* Snow accumulations... 10 to 20 inches... with up to 25 inches in
areas north of Rocky Mountain National Park and Rabbit Ears
Pass.

* Wind/visibility... west winds 20 to 40 mph near and above
timberline... with gusts to 60 mph or more on the high passes.
Visibility may lower to a couple hundred feet at times on the
passes... and as low as a quarter mile at times on lower
slopes.

* Impacts... the snow and blowing snow will produce hazardous and
slow travel conditions across the mountains. The worst travel
conditions are expected from midnight through early Sunday
morning. Travel restrictions are likely... and Road closures are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Check Road
conditions before you go. If you must travel... keep an extra
flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency.
