Issued: 3:03 PM MDT Apr. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 6 PM this evening
to 6 PM MDT Saturday...

* location... the Wet Mountain Valley, Pikes Peak, Teller County,
the Rampart Range and northern El Paso County.

* Cause and timing... rain will change quickly to snow this evening
with a period of heavy snow late tonight into Saturday morning.
Lighter snow will then continue through the day Saturday before
tapering to flurries Saturday evening.

* Snow accumulation... total snowfall accumulations of 6 to 12
inches across northern El Paso County and the Wet Mountain
Valley with 7 to 14 inches over Teller County. Amounts up to 20
inches possible near The Summit of Pikes Peak.

* Wind... north to northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35
mph.

* Impact... snow and blowing snow will create hazardous travel
conditions tonight through Saturday. In addition, heavy wet snow
may produce tree and powerline damage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food,
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
