Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 4:01 PM CDT Jul. 26, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
western Bastrop County in south central Texas...
southeastern Travis County in south central Texas...

* until 600 PM CDT

* at 356 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms along and east of I-35 to the Elgin... Bastrop and
Cedar Creek areas. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory
area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. This may also
cause blinding rains for drivers.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Austin... Pflugerville... Elgin... Austin Bergstrom int ap... Manor...
Mustang Ridge... Cedar Creek... Onion Creek... wyldwood...
San Leanna... Webberville... Creedmoor... del Valle... Maha...
Pilot Knob and Bateman.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will cause minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets... and
underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated... or
ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
