Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 6:40 AM CST Jan. 18, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northwestern Hays County in south central Texas...
western Travis County in south central Texas...

* until 945 am CST

* at 639 am CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. An
additional one inch is possible, and when combined with rainfall
that fell overnight could produce flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Cedar Park, Dripping Springs, Windemere, Leander, Lakeway, Lago
Vista, Bee Cave, West Lake Hills, the hills, Bear Creek, Barton
creek, Hudson Bend, Henly, Driftwood, Mansfield dam, Shady Hollow,
Jonestown and Briarcliff.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.
