Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 8:46 PM CST Feb. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
eastern Young County in north central Texas...

* until 1145 PM CST.

* At 844 PM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to
three inches of rain have already fallen near the Graham and
Loving areas with an additional one to two inches possible over
the next hour. This rainfall will lead to excessive water runoff
and cause flash flooding. Low-lying areas are most vulnerable to
rapidly rising water. Some low-water crossings may flood and
become impassable.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Graham... Loving... Jean.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 7:24 PM CST Feb. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... The flood advisory for minor flooding in poor drainage areas
remains in effect until 1000 PM CST for eastern Young and western
Jack counties...

At 722 PM CST, Doppler radar and rain gauges continued to indicate
thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall across eastern Young and
western Jack counties. The Graham automated weather observation
station recorded almost 2 inches of rain in one hour. Excessive
runoff from these thunderstorms will cause minor flooding.
Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding. This
means some low water crossings may become impassable... .especially
along State Highway 16 and State Highway 114.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Loving... Graham... Jermyn and Bryson.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.
