Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:47 PM CDT May. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through late tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi,
including the following areas, in southeast Louisiana,
Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville,
Livingston, northern Tangipahoa, Pointe Coupee, southern
Tangipahoa, St. Helena, Washington, West Baton Rouge, and West
Feliciana. In southern Mississippi, Amite, Pike, Walthall, and
Wilkinson.

* Through late tonight

* a stalled front will another round or two of heavy rainfall over
the watch area. Much of the area has already received heavy
rainfall over the weekend which has resulted in a saturated
ground.

* Additional heavy rainfall from thunderstorms is expected to
produce additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches, much of which
could fall in a short period of time. Some locally higher
amounts are expected. This will result in rapid runoff and
possible flash flooding. In addition there could be some minor
river flooding issues as well.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
