Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:48 AM CST Jan. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 9 am CST Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect until 9 am CST
Wednesday.

* Hazard... a wintry mix of precipitation will be possible
initially this morning... but will switch over to all snow by
late this morning. Fog could also reduce the visibility to below
one half mile this morning.

* Timing... while light precipitation is possible early this
morning... the better chances for heavier precipitation will be
after 9 am this morning through early evening. Snow will
gradually taper off tonight into Wednesday morning.

* Precipitation accumulation... 1 to 4 inches of snow are forecast.
The highest totals are expected to be across the northern half
of these counties.

* Winds... east winds of 10 to 15 mph are expected through the
morning hours. Winds will turn to the northwest this
afternoon... with speeds around 15 mph. Speeds will increase this
evening and tonight to 20 to 30 mph... with gusts as high as 40
mph.

* Impact... roads will become slick and snow-covered. Strong winds
tonight will produce blowing snow and reductions in visibility.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow will cause
travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited
visibilities... and use caution while driving.
