Watches & Warnings

Excessive Heat Warning
Issued: 8:10 PM CDT Jul. 23, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 PM CDT
Sunday...

* heat index values... of 105 to 109 degrees.

* Timing... Sunday afternoon and early evening.

* Impacts... the heat and humidity will make heat related illness
such as heat stress... heat cramps... and possibly heat stroke
more likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation
where heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids and stay
in an air conditioned room. Stay out of the sun and check up on
relatives and neighbors. Temperatures within vehicles can become
lethal in a few minutes. Never leave children or pets in
vehicles. Remember to beat the heat... check the backseat.
