The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Butler County in south central Kansas...
Chase County in east central Kansas...
eastern Harvey County in south central Kansas...
Marion County in central Kansas...

* until 1115 am CDT

* at 609 am CDT... Doppler radar indicated numerous thunderstorms
producing very heavy rainfall rates across the warned area... which
may cause areas of street flooding and minor low-land flooding. Up
to three inches of rain have already fallen over far eastern
Harvey... far northwest Butler and far Southwest Marion counties.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
El Dorado... Hillsboro... Marion... Towanda... Peabody...
Cottonwood Falls... Whitewater... Leon... Strong City... Florence...
Goessel... Potwin... Walton... Elbing... Burns... Lehigh... Rosalia...
Cassoday... bazaar and Elmdale.

Additional rainfall amounts of around one inch are possible in the
warned area before rainfall ends early to mid this morning.

This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 65 and 116.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall may cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... highways and underpasses in urban areas.
Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of
creeks... streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
