... For the Elk River near Tiff City...
* at 1:30 PM Sunday the stage was 21.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
early tomorrow.
* Impact... at 22.0 feet... routes tt, dd and h and highways 59 and 90
begin to flood.

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Cherokee County in southeastern Kansas...
Crawford County in southeastern Kansas...
Barton County in southwestern Missouri...
Newton County in southwestern Missouri...
McDonald County in southwestern Missouri...
Barry County in southwestern Missouri...
Lawrence County in southwestern Missouri...
Jasper County in southwestern Missouri...
Dade County in southwestern Missouri...

* until 1130 am CDT Monday

* at 1124 am CDT, the Department of Transportation reported flooding
continuing across the area. Many low water crossings remain
flooded with Road closures. Doppler radar indicated that between
four and ten inches of rainfall occurred with this storm system.

* Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...
Highway 43 at Buffalo Creek west of Anderson...
north main and Murphy Boulevard in Joplin...
business Highway 60 just north of Neosho...
Highway 97 at the Spring River north of Stotts City...
and Highway 37 at the Spring River southwest of Avilla.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the
following areas, in southeast Kansas, Bourbon, Cherokee, and
Crawford. In Missouri, Barry, Barton, Benton, Camden, Cedar,
Christian, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Greene, Hickory,
Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, Maries, McDonald, Miller,
Morgan, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Phelps, Polk, Pulaski, Shannon,
St. Clair, stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Webster, and Wright.

* Through this evening

* showers and thunderstorms will continue to primarily affect the
Highway 63 corridor into this afternoon... however areas over the
remainder of the watch area will still witness scattered showers
through this morning. While rainfall is not expected to resulted
in additional widespread flooding... the additional light to
moderate rain will keep flood levels high.

* With soils already saturated as well as streams and rivers
running high, significant flooding will continue. Flooding of
streams, rivers, and low water crossings could last for
several days after the rain ends. Areas that don't normally
flood could flood in this event. Many rivers are expected to
go into moderate to major flood... with some breaking records.

Some main Stem rivers that will experience significant rises and
potential flooding include the Elk, Spring, James, Big Piney,
Gasconade, Jacks Fork, current, eleven point, Osage, and
Marmaton. Some river points may reach moderate or major flood
stage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
