The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Cherokee County in southeastern Kansas...
northwestern Newton County in southwestern Missouri...
southwestern Jasper County in southwestern Missouri...

* until 900 am CDT Friday

* at 1157 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a slow moving cluster of
thunderstorms producing excessive rain across portions of
Cherokee, Jasper, and Newton counties. Up to three inches of rain
has already fallen in some areas, with an additional one to three
inches possible. The little Shawnee creek, Shawnee creek, and the
Spring River are likely to experience the heaviest amounts of
rainfall with these storms. Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly.

* Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flash flooding.
