Watches & Warnings

Excessive Heat Warning
Issued: 3:40 PM CDT Jul. 24, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 PM CDT this
evening...

* temperatures... mid to upper 90s.

* Heat indices... 105 to 110 degrees through 7 PM. Conditions will
gradually improve after sunset.

* Impacts... the combination of very warm temperatures and high
humidity will lead to oppressive conditions which could
quickly lead to heat related illnesses.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing... drink
plenty of fluids avoiding caffeinated and alcoholic beverages...
stay in an air-conditioned room and out of the sun... and check up
on relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.
