At 938 PM CDT... severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Lee's Summit to near Lake Lotawana to near
Pleasant Hill to near Harrisonville... moving northeast at 45 mph.

Hazard... 60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.

Source... trained weather spotters measured 60 mph winds in
         Grandview around 9:30 PM.

* early evening thunderstorms have laid out a boundary near the
Missouri River. Additional heavy rain producing thunderstorms will
likely move repeatedly over the same areas... producing very heavy
rains. Widespread rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected
with locally higher amounts possible.

* Widespread excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding of
creeks and streams... as well as other low-lying areas and
urban locations. This may include areas that are not typically
flood prone.

northwestern Cass County in west central Missouri...
Jackson County in west central Missouri...

* until 130 am CDT

* at 835 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. Doppler radar estimated between three
quarters to one and one half inches of rain have fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kansas City... Overland Park... Olathe... Independence...
Lee's Summit... Blue Springs... Lenexa... Leawood... Raytown...
Grandview... Belton... Prairie Village... Raymore... Gardner...
Grain Valley... Merriam... Pleasant Hill... Oak Grove...
Paola and Spring Hill.

Additional rainfall up to one and one half inches is expected over
the area. This additional rain will make minor flooding.
