Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 11:00 AM CDT Jul. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from 7 PM CDT this evening
through Thursday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Illinois and west central Illinois,
including the following areas, in central Illinois, Christian,
Logan, Marshall, Mason, Menard, Peoria, Sangamon, Stark,
Tazewell, and Woodford. In west central Illinois, Cass,
Fulton, Knox, Morgan, Schuyler, and Scott.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through Thursday morning

* as thunderstorms move across the area tonight, a very moist
atmosphere will result in heavy rain. While rainfall in
general is expected to range from 1.5 to 2 inches, some of the
storms will be capable of producing a couple inches in only an
hour or two. If the rain falls in such a short time frame,
flash flooding would be likely, especially in urban areas and
normally flood prone locations.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
