Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 10:48 PM CDT Jul. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
west central Christian County in central Illinois...
central Sangamon County in central Illinois...

* until 145 am CDT

* at 1047 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain fell from
thunderstorms this evening. This has caused urban and small stream
flooding in the Springfield area. Locally over one inch of rain
has fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Springfield, Chatham, Sherman, Rochester, Riverton, Jerome,
Southern View, Leland Grove, Grandview, Spaulding, Berry, Clear
Lake, Sangchris Lake State Park and Capital Airport.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 55 between mile markers 86 and 105.
Interstate 72 between mile markers 92 and 110.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
