The Flood Warning continues for
the Mississippi River at Louisiana
* from Friday afternoon to late Monday night.
* At 10:30 am Wednesday the stage was 13.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by Friday early
afternoon and to crest near 15.4 feet by Saturday morning. The
river is forecast to fall below flood stage by early Monday
morning.
* Impact: at 15.0 feet... damage begins in unprotected areas.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Mississippi River at Hannibal
* from Thursday afternoon to late Monday night.
* At 10:15 am Wednesday the stage was 14.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by tomorrow
afternoon and to crest near 16.6 feet by Saturday morning. The
river is forecast to fall below flood stage by early Monday
morning.
* Impact: at 17.0 feet... John Hay Recreation Area on east side
(inside the Illinois sny levee) begins flooding.
* Impact: at 16.0 feet... flood stage. Damage begins to buildings in
unprotected low areas. Minor flooding begins.

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:55 AM CDT Jul. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from this evening through Thursday
morning...

The National Weather Service in Saint Louis has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of west central Illinois and
northeast Missouri... including the following counties... in
west central Illinois... Adams IL... Brown IL and Pike IL. In
northeast Missouri... Knox MO... Lewis MO... Marion MO and Shelby
MO.

* From this evening through Thursday morning

* very heavy rain producing thunderstorms are expected to affect
the area tonight. Rainfall rates may exceed 2 to 3 inches per
hour in the heaviest storms. Total rainfall amounts of 2 to 4
inches are possible, with locally higher amounts.

* Heavy rainfall will result in flooding of low lying or poor
drainage areas... and ultimately dangerous flash flooding on
smaller creeks and streams. Significant rises on larger
streams and rivers will also be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch is advanced notice that conditions are
favorable that may lead to flash flooding. People in the watch
area, especially in flood prone areas, should use this time to
make preparations just in case. Stay informed, and be ready for
quick action if flooding is observed or if a Flash Flood Warning
is issued.
