Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 10:59 PM CDT Jul. 23, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
southeastern Winnebago County in north central Illinois...
southern Boone County in north central Illinois...
southwestern McHenry County in northeastern Illinois...

* until 1100 am CDT Sunday

* at 1058 PM CDT... radar estimates indicated that heavy rainfall of
up to four inches have fallen since late Saturday afternoon. Light
rain was ending... however flooding will take some time to subside
into early Sunday.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Rockford... Belvidere... Marengo... Cherry Valley... Union and new
Millford.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to
higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to
flooding when water begins rising.
