Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:52 AM CST Dec. 4, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9 am this morning to
6 PM CST this evening...

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 9 am this
morning to 6 PM CST this evening.

* Timing... light snow will begin by mid morning increasing in
intensity by midday... and then continue until slightly after
sunset.

* Snow accumulations... 2 to 4 inches of wet snow.

* Main impact... slippery conditions are expected on untreated
surfaces creating hazardous travel.

* Other impacts... visibility may fall to around one half mile at
times causing an additional travel hazard.

* Note... impacts may be mitigated by mild Road temperatures on
heavily traveled roads... such as the immediate suburbs of the
city of Chicago.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Special Statement
Issued: 8:25 PM CST Dec. 3, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Minor snowfall on Sunday across east central Illinois and
Northwest Indiana...

Snow will begin during the mid to late morning on Sunday and
persist through the afternoon possibly mixing with rain at times.
Minor accumulation of mainly two inches or less is expected. Mild
pavement temperatures and a wet nature to the snow will likely
prevent much sticking on most well traveled roads... though some
light slushy accumulation may be seen on some roadways.

Even minor snow accumulation on roadways can make roads slippery
and low visibility can add to that making travel hazardous at
times. The first snow of the season can also catch motorists off
guard. Leave extra time to reach your destination on Sunday.
