the Des Plaines river near Des Plaines
* from Sunday evening to Friday evening.
* At 8:45 PM Saturday the stage was 10.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is possible.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Recent activity... gage datum was changed by 10 feet on Nov 14 2014.
Flood thresholds and flood impacts are now 10 feet higher than
previous values.
* Forecast... flood stage may be reached by Sunday evening.
* Impact... at 18.5 feet... flood waters affect residential areas of Big
Bend drive, Mason Lane, River Road, and Howard.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Illinois and Indiana, including the following
areas, in Illinois, Cook, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Kankakee,
Livingston, and will. In Indiana, Benton, Jasper, Lake in,
Newton, and Porter.

* Through Monday morning.

* Periods of moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall are
expected through the weekend. Total rainfall amounts of 2 to 4
inches are likely across the watch area through Sunday
evening. At the current time, the heaviest rain threat will be
this evening through Sunday evening.

* While there is high confidence in widespread moderate rainfall
through the weekend, confidence is lower with the extent and
location of the heaviest rainfall.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
