Winter Storm Watch
Issued: 2:34 PM MST Dec. 10, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Sunday evening through
Monday evening...

* impacts/timing: another impressive surge of Arctic air will pour
across the Continental Divide and into the northern rockies
Monday. The combination of gusty winds, freshly fallen snow and
periods of additional heavy snow along the Arctic boundary could
lead to dangerous travel conditions Monday, especially during
the morning hours.

* Snow accumulations: an additional 3 to 7 inches throughout the
valleys with up to another foot throughout the higher terrain.

* Winds: steady north to east winds of 15 to 30 mph winds will be
developing as the Arctic boundary pushes across the Continental
Divide. Frequent gusts to 40 mph are possible with occasional
gusts to near 50 mph along US-2 and through bad Rock Canyon.

* Locations impacted include: bad Rock Canyon, Essex, Highway 83
Bigfork to Swan Lake, Marias Pass, Polebridge, Flathead Lake,
Flathead Valley, Mission Valley, and Polson
