Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 11:49 AM CDT Mar. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
snowmelt in...
eastern Bottineau County in north central North Dakota...
northern Pierce County in north central North Dakota...
northeastern McHenry County in north central North Dakota...
Rolette County in north central North Dakota...

* until 400 PM CDT Saturday

* emergency management reported snowmelt causing urban and small
stream flooding in and around The Turtle mountains in north
central North Dakota. Localized flooding has been reported at
Rolla. Occurrences of flooding are expected to spread throughout
eastern Bottineau and much of Rolette County, northeastern McHenry
and northern Pierce counties over the next couple of days as
temperatures increase and snowmelt progresses. Thus the advisory
has been extended until late Saturday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from snow melt will cause flooding of small creeks
and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
