Watches & Warnings

Blizzard Warning
Issued: 12:05 PM CST Dec. 6, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard Warning remains in effect until midnight CST
tonight...

* timing... continuing through the day and continue into tonight.

* Snow accumulations... storm total ranging from 1 to 3 inches in
the southern Red River valley increasing to the north with 4 to
8 in the central Red River valley and 8 to 15 inches in the
northern valley.

* Winds... northwest 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

* Visibilities... near zero at times with white out conditions
especially in open country.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded... stay with your vehicle.
