Watches & Warnings

Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 7:56 AM MST Dec. 6, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST /5 PM
MST/ this evening...

* timing... expect occasional bands of light snow to continue
today... diminishing by early evening.

* Snow accumulations... up to an inch of additional snow
accumulation is expected today... with locally higher amounts of
1 to 2 inches possible over the Sisseton hills region.

* Winds / visibility... sustained west to northwest winds of 25 to
40 mph with gusts to 50 mph will cause areas of blowing and
drifting snow. Terrain effects over the Sisseton hills could
yield even higher gusts off and on throughout the day. Areas of
poor visibility below one half mile in falling and blowing snow
are expected.

* Impacts... near blizzard conditions in blowing and falling snow
will reduce visibility and create hazardous driving
conditions. Don't overdrive the conditions! Slow down and give
yourself extra time to reach your destination if travel is
necessary today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for blowing snow means that
visibilities will be limited due to strong winds blowing snow
around. Use caution when traveling... especially in open areas.
