Flood Warning
Issued: 9:39 PM CDT Jul. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Baraboo river near Baraboo.
* At 8:00 PM Friday the stage was 17.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 22.8 feet by
Monday early afternoon then begin falling.
* Impact... at 23.1 feet... floodwaters affect a trailer rental
business and a Road Wayside Park about 5 miles downstream near the
Highway 33 bridge. Floodwaters also affect an auto auction business
near Highway I-94.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Baraboo river at West Baraboo.
* At 9:00 PM Friday the stage was 6.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tomorrow early afternoon and
continue to rise to near 11.0 feet by early Monday morning.The
river will fall below flood stage by Tuesday before midnight.
* Impact... at 11.0 feet... there is widespread lowland and
agricultural land in the Baraboo area. Floodwaters enter the lower
parts of Haskins park in West Baraboo.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Baraboo river at Rock Springs.
* At 9:15 PM Friday the stage was 19.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 23.8 feet by
Sunday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Thursday
early afternoon.
* Impact... at 23.0 feet... floodwaters touch the base of the river
gauge house in Rock Springs. Floodwaters cover much of highways dd,
154 and 136 in Rock Springs. Busser park along Highway 136 and the
baseball Diamond in fireman's park along Highway dd are covered
with water up to 4 feet deep. Floodwaters affect some businesses,
including the Post office, along Highway 154 in Rock Springs.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Baraboo river at Reedsburg.
* At 8:00 am Friday the stage was 14.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Impact... at 14.0 feet... there is general inundation of lowland in
the Reedsburg area. The walking path adjacent to the river in Webb
Park and Smith conservancy is mostly covered with water. The
public works yard is under several inches of water.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Saturday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of south central Wisconsin and southeast Wisconsin,
including the following areas, in south central Wisconsin,
Columbia, Dane, green, Iowa, Lafayette, rock, and Sauk. In
southeast Wisconsin, Dodge, Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee,
Racine, Walworth, and Waukesha.

* Through Saturday morning

* heavy rainfall of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts
possible.

* Impacts could include flooded roads and intersections, river
flooding, and possible rock and mud slides in hilly terrain.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Those outside, including campers and hikers, should avoid low
ground and areas along rivers and streams, where rapid water
rises could occur. Be especially cautious at night, when flash
flooding is difficult to see.
