Dense Fog Advisory
Issued: 3:26 PM CST Jan. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Dense fog advisory in effect from 9 PM this evening to 10 am
CST Friday...

The National Weather Service in Quad Cities has issued a dense
fog advisory... which is in effect from 9 PM this evening to 10 am
CST Friday.

* Timing... patchy fog will start developing after sunset but will
become more widespread after 9 PM.

* Impacts... visibilities under 1/4 mile at times in dense fog will
lead to dangerous driving conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving, slow down, use
your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Special Statement
Issued: 7:56 PM CST Jan. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Areas of fog and drizzle... locally dense to increase this evening...

As light rain ends... fog... locally dense with patchy drizzle will increase
across the region this evening. Visibilities of 2 miles to locally down
to around 1/2 mile or less will lower even further as the fog thickens
through this evening. Widespread areas of visibilities at to well below
a half mile are expected by late evening with a dense fog advisory in
effect later this evening. The combination of fog and wet roads can
be hazardous... and motorists should use extra caution and slow down
and drive defensively.
