Lake Effect Snow Warning
Issued: 12:37 PM EST Dec. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow warning in effect until 7 am EST Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a lake
effect snow warning for heavy lake effect snow, and blowing snow,
which is in effect until 7 am EST Saturday. The lake effect Snow
Advisory is no longer in effect.

Hazardous weather...

* lake effect snow will continue through Friday night. Expect a
strong band of snow tonight into Friday over portions of western
Alger County... affecting Deerton... Sundell and Chatham.

* Northwest winds gusting as high as 30 mph will lead to
blowing and drifting snow into tonight... especially near Lake
   Superior.

* Expect snowfall this afternoon of 2 to 4 inches. An additional 6
to 12 inches of snow will occur tonight through Friday night with
the heaviest snow falling tonight through much of the day on
   Friday over western Alger County.

Impacts...

* roads will be snow covered and slippery.

* Moderate to heavy snow and blowing snow will reduce visibilities.
The lowest visibilities... less than one-half mile at times... will
occur tonight into much of the day on Friday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a lake effect snow warning means significant amounts of lake-
effect snow are forecast that will make travel very hazardous or
   impossible.

* Prepare... plan... and stay informed. Visit www.Weather.Gov/MQT
