Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 12:31 AM EDT Jul. 30, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
southern Calhoun County in south central Michigan...

* until 330 am EDT

* at 1229 am EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory
area. Latest radar estimates indicate localized rainfall amounts
over 1.50 inches have fallen in the past 1.5 hours in southern
Calhoun County.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Albion... Marshall... Homer...
Union City... Burlington... Athens...
Tekonsha... Pine Creek...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
