Issued: 12:16 AM EDT Jun. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 530 am EDT for Isabella...
Mecosta and northern Montcalm counties...

At 1215 am EDT, local law enforcement reported that flooding was
occurring in the warned area. A swath of rainfall totals in excess
of 2 inches have been estimated to have fallen from around Blanchard
through the Mt. Pleasant area. Localized totals of more than 5
inches have been observed near Winn, Michigan. In Isabella County,
mission Road between Walton and Blanchard have been closed due to
high water, in addition to baseline Road between Whiteville and
Meridian.

Small streams and tributaries will likely become overwhelmed
quickly, flooding adjacent land. Several rural routes in low lying
areas are likely to be affected by high water.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mount Pleasant, Big Rapids, Howard City, Shepherd, Edmore, Lakeview,
Morley, Mecosta, Rosebush, Barryton, Canadian Lakes, Lake Isabella,
Stanwood, Sylvester, amble, Wyman, Delwin, Winn, Rodney and Six
Lakes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

953 PM EDT Thu Jun 22 2017

... Flood Watch in effect until 6 am EDT Friday...

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of central Michigan, south central
Michigan, southwest Michigan, and west central Michigan,
including the following areas, in central Michigan, Clare,
Gratiot, Isabella, Mecosta, Montcalm, and Osceola. In south
central Michigan, Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, and Ionia. In
southwest Michigan, Allegan, Barry, Kent, and Ottawa. In west
central Michigan, Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana.

* Until 6 am EDT Friday

* several rounds of thunderstorms are forecasted tonight. Rainfall
rates will top an inch per hour in the strongest storms. Local
storm total rainfall amounts could exceed 3 inches which would
be enough to trigger flooding. The ground is already saturated
in some areas so runoff could be efficient.

* Urban and poor drainage flooding could occur. Flooding of small
streams and creeks will be possible where the thunderstorms
repeat over the same area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
