Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 11:58 AM EDT Sep. 29, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch in effect through Friday evening...

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a

* Flood Watch for a portion of Southeast Michigan... including
the following areas... Genesee... Lapeer... Livingston... Macomb...
Oakland... Shiawassee... St. Clair... Washtenaw and Wayne.

* Through Friday evening

* a persistent area of showers and thunderstorms has already
resulted in rainfall amounts ranging from 2 to 4 inches across
parts of Southeast Michigan. Several more opportunities for rain
may produce an additional 1 to 3 inches of rainfall by Friday
evening.

* Urban flooding... especially in the Detroit area... will be
possible. In addition... rapid rises of rivers and creeks already
swollen from recent rainfall may occur.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

* Prepare... plan... and stay informed.
