The National Weather Service in Missoula has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
Bitterroot river near Missoula in...
south central Missoula County in west central Montana...
northern Ravalli County in west central Montana...

* until further notice.

* The river level has reached 11.4 feet and will continue to rise
between 12.5 to 13.0 feet by Monday.

* Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Moderate flood stage is 13.0 feet.

* At 11.0 feet, flooding affects low lying areas adjacent to the
river. At 12.0 feet, flooding of farmland and some roads along the
Bitterroot river from Lolo to the confluence with the Clark Fork
river is possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* The river level has risen to moderate flood stage and is
anticipated to remain in moderate flood stage through early next
week.

* Moderate flood stage is 11.0 feet.

Do not enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

southeastern Mineral County in west central Montana...
southwestern Missoula County in west central Montana...

* until further notice.

* At 1:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 10.4 feet.

* The river will rise to 11.0 feet by Friday, and will crest to near
11.5 feet over the weekend. Minor flooding is forecast.

* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

* At 11.0 feet... flooding of low lying areas adjacent to the river
is possible just west of Missoula to Frenchtown.

Do not enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.

* Flood Watch to the Bitterroot river near Darby, in west central
Montana.

* Until further notice.

* The river is forecast to reach flood stage by Friday afternoon
and remain there for several days.

* Flood stage is 7.5 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
