Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 3:21 AM EST Feb. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of central New York... including the following
counties... Jefferson... Lewis and Oswego.

* Through this evening.

* Around an inch of rain fell with the passage of a cold front on
Saturday. Meanwhile warm temperatures over several days resulted
in rapid snowmelt across the Tug Hill plateau and western
Adirondacks. Excessive runoff from snowmelt and rain will
continue to result in high water levels in streams and rivers.

* Flooding is expected for portions of the watch area. Please see
specific river flood warnings for the Black River and Moose
River. Other rivers may approach flood stage today, including
the Beaver River and other rivers which drain the Tug Hill
plateau and western Adirondacks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop. Stay tuned to weather radio or other radio and TV
stations for further details or updates.
