Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 12:31 PM MST Feb. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a

* flood advisory for...
rain and snowmelt in...
Jefferson County in southeastern Idaho...
northern Bonneville County in southeastern Idaho...
Madison County in southeastern Idaho...

* until 1230 PM MST Wednesday

* minor low land flooding is still on-going as reported by emergency
management and local law officials. Additional rain on snow and on
saturated ground as well as windy conditions will create
additional minor low land flooding this afternoon through the
evening. A cool down Wednesday through most of the weekend will
aide to the slow down of flooding, though it may take some time to
see the full effect.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Rexburg, Rigby, Swan Valley, Ririe Reservoir, Terreton, Lorenzo,
Sugar City, Menan, Ririe, Roberts, Lewisville, Mud Lake, Irwin,
Hamer, Archer, Monteview, Plano, Sage Junction, Thornton and Kettle
Butte.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Special Statement
Issued: 3:59 AM MST Feb. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Snow showers may create difficult driving conditions over
portions of se Idaho Thursday and Friday...

A storm system is expected to pass just south of Idaho Thursday
and exit to the east Friday. As a result, rain and snow showers
are expected to develop late this afternoon and early evening
along the Interstate corridor from Coldwater to Pocatello,
changing to snow after sunset tonight. Snow showers are then
expected to expand north and east along the Interstate 15 corridor
Thursday, with additional snow showers developing for the
Sawtooths by late Thursday. The combination of falling snow and
falling temperatures may cause any wet roads to become slushy and
icy tonight into Thursday morning, with some lingering icy roads
into Friday. At this time the heaviest snow is expected across the
Sawtooths and the benches east of Pocatello, where 1 to 4 inches
of snow with locally higher amounts will be possible. Confidence
is low with regards to locations and amounts of snowfall, so
continue to follow future forecasts for any updates on the
location of expected heaviest snowfall. In addition, gusty north
winds developing on Thursday may create blowing and drifting snow,
particularly along Interstate 15 from DuBois to Monida.
