Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 2:43 PM EST Feb. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Maine and New Hampshire, including the following
areas, in Maine, Androscoggin, Central Somerset, Kennebec,
northern Franklin, northern Oxford, southern Franklin,
southern Oxford, and southern Somerset. In New Hampshire,
Belknap, Cheshire, eastern Hillsborough, Merrimack, northern
Carroll, northern Coos, northern Grafton, southern Carroll,
southern Coos, southern Grafton, Sullivan, and western and
central Hillsborough.

* Through Sunday evening

* recent warm temperatures have generated significant melting of
snowpack. This melting will continue to result in rising levels
on area rivers and streams. Additionally, a strong cold front
will move across the region tonight producing locally heavy
rainfall with up to an inch possible in some locations.

* The primary flood threat will be ice jam flooding. The threat is
greatest in New Hampshire where temperatures have been the
warmest and precipitation amounts tonight will be highest.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
