Issued: 10:49 AM MST Feb. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Portneuf River at Pocatello.
* From Tuesday morning to Friday afternoon... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 9:45 am Monday the stage was 7.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Impact... at 9.1 feet... flooding of low lying agricultural land and
pasture will occur in the Inkom and Blackrock area. Lowland
flooding is likely along sections of the river between Portneuf gap
and the Cheyenne Avenue bridge in Pocatello.

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
rain and snowmelt in...
Bannock County in southeastern Idaho...
Power County in southeastern Idaho...
Bingham County in southeastern Idaho...

* until 1215 PM MST Monday

* at 1100 am MST, emergency management reported that extensive
flooding was continuing in some areas with water threatening roads
and homes. Some roads remain closed. Rainfall expected over the
weekend will result in continued flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pocatello, Blackfoot, American Falls, McCammon, Lava Hot Springs,
Swanlake, American Falls Reservoir, Neeley, Goshen, Chubbuck,
Shelley, Aberdeen, Inkom, Downey, Firth, Arimo, Rockland, rose,
Fort Hall Bannock creek Lodge and Pingree.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff will cause flooding of small creeks and streams,
country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
