Watches & Warnings

Ice Storm Warning
Issued: 3:50 AM CST Jan. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until midnight CST
tonight...

* timing... a wintry mix of precipitation will continue to spread
northward into the area today... with heaviest precipitation
occurring this afternoon. Freezing rain will occur... as well as
some isolated pockets of sleet. As colder air above the surface
moves in this evening... the precipitation will change to light
snow.

* Accumulations... ice accumulations of two tenths to a third of an
inch are expected through late this afternoon. Thereafter... the
precipitation will transition to snow... with a half an inch or
less of snow expected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An Ice Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Significant amounts of ice accumulations
will make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is strongly
discouraged. Commerce will likely be severely impacted. If you
must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency. Ice accumulations and winds will
likely lead to snapped power lines and falling tree branches that
add to the danger.
