... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 4 PM EST this
afternoon...

* locations... much of interior Massachusetts.

* Hazard types... sleet changing to freezing rain.

* Accumulations... total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 2
inches except 3 to 5 inches across far north central
Massachusetts. A trace to one tenth of an inch of ice accretion
is possible today, with one tenth to one quarter of an inch
possible across the high terrain of the Worcester Hills and east
slopes of the Berkshires.

* Timing... sleet will change to freezing rain in most locations by
mid morning. Temperatures may remain near or perhaps just below
freezing across portions of the region through the afternoon
particularly across high terrain. This may allow pockets of
freezing rain to persist into the afternoon and evening.

* Impacts... untreated roads and walkways will be slippery for the
morning rush hour. If temperatures remain at or below
freezing... untreated roads may remain icy into this evening with
a possible impact on the evening rush hour.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Issued: 3:48 AM EST Jan. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 am EST this morning...

* location... northern Connecticut... Rhode Island and most of
Massachusetts excluding the northwest sections.

* Timing... strongest winds through 7 am this morning.

* Winds... northeast 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 40 and 55 mph... strongest
wind closer to the coast.

* Impacts... these winds will be capable of Downing a few trees
and may result in isolated power outages. In addition...
localized property damage is possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph are
expected... with gusts between 46 to 57 mph. Winds this strong are
capable of Downing small tree limbs and branches... possibly
causing isolated power outages. Driving can also be difficult...
especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

... Gale Warning is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Small Craft
Advisory... which is in effect until 6 am EST Wednesday. The Gale
Warning has been cancelled.

* Winds and seas... north winds 20 to 30 kt. Occasional gusts up to
35 kt early this morning. Seas 4 to 8 feet across the Long
Island Sound.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that sustained wind speeds or
frequent gusts of 25 to 33 kt and/or seas of 5 ft or higher are
expected or occurring... and hazardous to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels... should avoid navigating in these conditions.
