Watches & Warnings

Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 4:01 AM EST Dec. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM EST this
afternoon...

Hazardous weather...

* more concentrated lake effect snow showers will impact portions
of the warning area into this morning with the heaviest snow to
occur between 4 am EST and 11 am EST. Drifting snow will cause
slippery roads with brief instances of blowing snow possible.

* Snow accumulations may vary greatly from location to location
depending on the duration any lake effect band remains in
place. Additional accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected
where the bands remain the longest with locally higher amounts
   possible.

* Wind chills 10 above to 15 above zero.

Impacts...

* blowing and drifting snow will cause hazardous driving
conditions on snow covered and slippery roads especially from
late this evening through Friday morning.

* Significantly reduced visibilities are expected in the
   heavier snow showers.

* The Friday morning commute will likely be adversely affected
   by lake effect snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for warning for lake effect snow and
drifting snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected
or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will
make travel dangerous. If you must travel... keep an extra
flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency.
