Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 12:21 AM CDT Jul. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
northern Pulaski County in northwestern Indiana...
Starke County in northwestern Indiana...
southwestern La Porte County in northwestern Indiana...

* until 1215 PM CDT Saturday

* at 1218 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain which may cause small creeks, streams and ditches to
overflow. Radar estimates that 1 to 2 inches of rain has fallen
across parts of southwestern LaPorte County into northern Starke
County. Additional rainfall is expected over this area as well as
the remainder of Starke County into northern Pulaski. Rainfall
rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are expected with the strongest
storms. Which will cause rapid runoff and localized flooding
concerns.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Knox, North Judson, Hamlet, La Crosse, Koontz Lake, Oak Grove,
Ripley, Monterey, Thomaston, Lomax, Beardstown, Ober, English Lake,
Denham, Brems, Toto, Clarks, Winona, Bass Lake and San Pierre.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
