Lake Effect Snow Watch
Issued: 3:22 AM EST Dec. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow watch remains in effect from Thursday morning
through Saturday morning...

* accumulations... snow accumulations greater than 6 inches are
possible. Localized snow accumulations of 12 inches or more may
occur across inland areas of northwest Pennsylvania.

* Timing... snow will begin near the Erie Pennsylvania Lakeshore
by late Thursday morning. The snow will then increase in
coverage and intensity into Friday. Snow squalls will then
persist into at least Saturday morning. The most significant
lake effect snow will fall Thursday night and Friday.

* Impacts... heavy lake effect snow and areas of blowing snow
will lead to significant accumulations of snow on area
roadways and very poor visibilities at times... resulting in
hazardous travel conditions.

* Winds... west to northwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts in excess of
30 mph possible. The strongest winds will be closer to Lake
Erie.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake effect snow watch is issued when there is potential for
heavy lake effect snow... often in localized areas. Travel
conditions could be severely impacted. Monitor the latest
forecast for possible lake effect snow warnings.
