Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 2:29 AM MDT Aug. 31, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning in effect from 6 am Thursday to 10 PM MDT
Friday for thunderstorms after a prolonged dry period for fire
weather zones 479 and 480...

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a red
flag warning for thunderstorms after a prolonged dry
period... which is in effect from 6 am Thursday to 10 PM MDT
Friday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Affected area... fire weather zone 479 Wasatch mountains and
fire weather zone 480 Uinta Mountains.

* Outflow winds... greater than 40 mph possible.

* Relative humidity... 13 to 15 percent below 7000 feet. Above 15
percent elevations above 7000 feet.

* Thunderstorms... scattered thunderstorms with insignificant rainfall
and fast storm motions will develop on Thursday... then trend
more widely scattered in nature on Friday.

* Impacts... the combination of thunderstorms with insignificant rainfall
after a prolonged dry period and gusty outflow winds may create
to the potential for new fire starts and rapid fire growth.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur with high confidence. A combination of
strong microburst winds... and warm temperatures can contribute to
extreme fire behavior.
